Vintage Cheese Scones

Made these for breakfast while watching Queen Elizabeth’s funeral, which featured such amazing pageantry for a uniquely dedicated and well-loved monarch. On the one hand, the reverence towards tradition and symbolism impressively reflected England as a grand, storied nation. But on the other, the lack of modernity and agility in the royal family might relegate that institution into obscurity.

Recipe is from BBC Good Food and cheese was Cathedral City’s vintage English Cheddar. Sharp and crumbly. Best downed with a cup of hot tea.
